It was a one of its kind experience. There was water in the lake when I went there which made it more fun to walk. I went inside the lake and it was a great experience. Don’t try to slide as you might cut yourself from the salt bed. I wish I could stay for a sun set but still it was an out of the world experience. I had never seen anything like it before.

Such a gorgeous and remote place. As far as Lakes go, this one is HUGE. There is a fair bit of algae which makes the water a funny colour. The boat ramp is very primitive and it doesn't have any facilities such as tables and chairs or BBQs or toilets. The tracks are all mostly passable for a 4WD, ute or gutsier vehicle...don't take a low to the ground vehicle out here.

Personally, I found this place terrific. For a ' free' stop 2 mins off the highway, it's a must. A dry inland lake, dazzling white with the residual salt. You either cross the train tracks or go under in the tunnel. Note there are no toilets. We spent the night here and it was safe. Look for the old tracks.

Bumbunga Lake
The best time to visit this place is during summer. However, we went in late spring. I prefer late spring over summer to visit pink lakes because there are fly attacks otherwise. So I advise you wear a hat, sunglasses, and a mask to get away from the flies. There’s a billboard placed to get those perfect photos at this place. When the water is dried, you can walk up to the dino in middle. Enough parking spots unless the place is crowded.

Stopped here while traveling to Adelaide. The salt lake bed is quite amazing to look at, brilliant white for the most part with pinkish-red bits, and very hard underfoot. You can access it from several places, including a conveniently located rest stop.
